About VisualNovelGames.com and Red Panda Games
Who we are, what we've done, and where we are going...-
My name is Lex. I originally started Red Panda Games in Seattle, Washington in August of 2008. We made a puzzle-RPG game called Bipo: Mystery of the Red Panda and released it on most of the major casual portals. We discovered right away that the competition for advertising and media space made it extremely difficult to get people's attention. We also realized that the casual portals would not be a viable long-term business solution because we would be unable to establish our own customer base by pursuing this route.
- We are very easy to work with.
- We know what it's like to be an indie developer.
- We know that when you succeed, we do as well. We want to see you succeed!
- Many flexible and custom options are available.
Our first game was an RPG, but the indie RPG market had already been tapped by a few other indie developers, so we decided to look for a smaller niche that we believed would grow and was currently underrepresented. We turned to visual novels and dating-sims, even though the niche is one of the smallest gaming niches.
For the last few years, people have said that the visual novel market can't grow in western audiences. However, the anime and manga industry has exploded in the west over the past several years, with many, if not most Japanese titles being localized into English.
We completed our first visual novel, Curse of Slate Rock Manor, in 2010. Although we received some help, we struggled to get significant press, and this made the success of our title extremely difficult. However, our existing customer base rallied behind us and supported our efforts.
Thank you!
We have pursued more of a publishing role in the past few years. However, our position is quite different from other publishers because most of them don't allow developers to grow a customer base. We actually don't get any of the customers' contact information unless they sign up for our mailing list, so please do!
We are currently focused on developing our new dating-sim, The Host Holic. Please check it out and leave comments. We love to hear from our customers. The Host Holic is also on preorder. If you preorder the game today, you can take advantage of our various rewards.
